One of the teachers in my building also had a large life size grinch she made and had the students write things the Grinch could do to make his heart larger on little cut out hearts. These hearts were posted all around the Grinch. It was super cute and I forgot to snap a quick pic. After we read the story and talked about the story the kids came up with words to describe the Grinch. I got this idea from Cara.
Then they came up with similes to go with the Grinch. I plan on putting these into their scrapbooks!
I love how this little boy said as grumpy as an old man...too funny!
Another great blog I discovered was Mrs. Schmelzer's Blog. We did the a neat writing activity about what we do on a snowy day. The kids LOVED this writing lesson. We have not had a drop of snow, so the kids were ready to write about it just in case it happened. I got the idea from her blog, but used a different book. I love the book and it is also great for predicting because the end is a bit of surprise for them. Here's the book I like to use...Snow Day! I hope you are having a great Christmas break. I feel like mine is flying by. I promised myself that I wouldn't do school stuff, but it is sooo hard. I have been on Pinterest like crazy.
I like the Grinch writing. It's a great way to practice similes.
