Magic Eggs Freebie

The first day of Spring is right around the corner and I am ready for the warmer weather. I am always trying to find new ways to make our word work activities and centers engaging, so I created this fun and FREE activity to use with your kiddos. I mean who doesn't like a little magic and decorating Easter eggs?
This center is a simple setup.  You just need to print the cards on cardstock and laminate for durability and then print out the student recording pages.  I usually leave out a container of white crayons because let's be honest, many of those crayons have gone missing from the school boxes by now! You can even buy white crayons in bulk here.  Once set up, the child will pull an egg card and say the word that matches the picture. Find the number on the card that matches the easter egg on the recording page and write the word with a white crayon.  Now, this is the part my kids love! Have them decorate their egg with markers and watch the word appear.

If you are wanting to bring more of the SOR strategies into this center you could do more focus on sounds with the letters that match by adding small dots or sound boxes to the eggs prior to the activity being printed.  I love these soundbox stamps and these from Amazon.
